The 2023 Yamaha MT 15 has received several updates over its predecessor. The biggest upgrade on the 2023 model is the addition of a traction control system and a dual-channel ABS. In comparison, the previous iteration of the roadster-segment motorcycle only featured the safety net of a single-channel ABS.
Apart from enhancing the safety net, Yamaha Motor India has also added LED turn indicators to this motorcycle, and the MT 15 now comes with full-LED lighting. Meanwhile, the cockpit retains the LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. The Bluetooth module works with a dedicated smartphone application and offers access to features such as incoming call alerts, SMS and email notifications, and phone battery level to the LCD console. Further, the smartphone application helps track fuel consumption, provides maintenance recommendations, saves the last parked location, and shows malfunction notifications.
The design remains unchanged for 2023. However, Yamaha Motor India has revised the colour palette with the addition of the new Metallic Black DLX paint. This new paint option will be sold alongside the Ice Fluo-Vermillion, Racing Blue, and Cyan Storm colour themes. All colour options come with a different shade for the alloy wheels.
The mechanical specifications, too, are similar to its predecessor. However, the 2023 model comes equipped with an onboard diagnostics (OBD-II) system that monitors the emission levels in real time. The 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC, four-valve, fuel-injected engine with VVA system delivers a maximum output of 18.1bhp at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.2Nm at 7,500rpm. The six-speed gearbox benefits from an assist and slipper clutch mechanism. However, unlike the YZF-R15, this motorcycle does not get a quick-shifter.
The hardware on the 2023 MT 15 retains the 37mm upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock to handle the suspension tasks. The braking setup comprises a 282mm front disc and a 220mm rear rotor, while the safety net includes a dual-channel ABS and traction control system. Similar to the YZF-R15, the 17-inch alloy wheels on the MT 15 are wrapped in 100/80-section front and 140/70-section rear tyres. The motorcycle features a 10-litre fuel tank and tips the weighing scale at 141kg (kerb).
The 2023 Yamaha MT 15 rivals the likes of the KTM 125 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Honda Hornet 2.0, and the Bajaj Pulsar N250 in the Indian market.

The buying experience was good as there was no waiting time, about riding quality it was sporty but not for longer rides. It looks awesome It is a college boy's bike in its performance it is best in the low-end and mid-range not much in the high end, servicing and maintenance are a bit costly but once it is serviced its runs smoothly Pro- good eye-catching bike, fit and finish, full of torque and fun to ride in cities Cons- after a few years it tends to lose its stance by having some issues with electronic or the engine, the seat is not padded well, costing is a bit high for a 155cc bike

The Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 is an improved iteration of its predecessor, addressing some of the issues that plagued the earlier model, the Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 offers improved handling, performance, and aesthetics. However, the lack of dual-channel ABS and limited pillion comfort are notable downsides. If you prioritize agility and style, the MT-15 could be a great choice.

The first thing I like about this bike is the looks and that is the reason I bought this bike, it looks better than any other bike under 200cc segment. The second thing I like is the mileage 42-45km in a busy city like south Mumbai. The third thing I like is the maneuvering ability, it’s comfortable to control the bike in traffic. The fourth thing I like is the dual-channel abs braking system and traction control which assures great safety. The fifth thing I enjoy is its performance, this thing is truly a pocket rocket! Now let’s talk about the downsides. The first thing I dislike is the build quality, it’s made out of thin and hollow plastic material which looks very fragile and could break easily. That is the reason it’s so lightweight and gives good mileage. The second thing I dislike is the seat cushioning, it could’ve been thicker (no complaints about the pillion, it feels fun to sit behind and enjoy the wind kissing your face) The third thing I dislike is that it’s OVERPRICED! Having a 155cc engine and low-quality build, the looks and mileage alone do not justify its pricing. It definitely should have been at least 10-15k lower. But since it was my dream bike a year and a half ago and I was restricted by budget, I had to buy this unique beast.Being a 5’11 talk rider, my preference if I had a higher budget would’ve been Royal Enfield Classic, Honda Cb350 or Duke 200.

MT 15 detailed

Darshan Patil
The Yamaha MT-15 stands out in the crowded market of naked streetfighters with its aggressive design and thrilling performance. Its sharp lines, muscular stance, and attention to detail make it a head-turner on the road. Powered by a punchy 155cc engine, the MT-15 delivers exhilarating acceleration and nimble handling, perfect for carving through twisty roads or navigating city streets. While the riding position is comfortable for the rider, with upright handlebars and rear-set footpegs, the seat might pose discomfort for pillion riders on longer journeys due to insufficient cushioning and support. However, the MT-15 compensates with its array of features, including a digital instrument cluster, dual-channel ABS, and LED lighting. Overall, if you're seeking a compact thrill machine that excels in style and performance, the Yamaha MT-15 is a strong contender in its class.
