The new Kawasaki Z650RS has entered the Indian two-wheeler space to compete against the likes of the Honda CB650R and the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. This middleweight joins the Ninja 650, Z650, Vulcan S, and the Versys 650 in the Japanese manufacturer’s Indian portfolio.
For 2024, the Z650RS gets a new, two-mode traction control system. The first mode has reduced TC intervention for riding on good road surfaces. The second mode has a more intrusive setting and is ideal when riding on wet surfaces. Riders can also choose to switch off traction control completely.
The Kawasaki Z900RS-inspired styling brings a round LED headlight with a chrome surround, retro-style twin-pod instrument cluster, round shape for the rear-view mirrors, curvy design for the fuel tank, flat seat, and an underbelly exhaust to the Z650RS. The motorcycle rides on split-style alloy wheels that are wrapped in tubeless tyres.
The new Z650RS is available in the Ebony Metallic Matte Carbon Gray colour option.
The feature list on this retro styling Kawasaki comprises full-LED lighting and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The rider aids on the Z650RS besides the new traction control system include dual-channel ABS and an assist and slipper clutch mechanism. The motorcycle employs a steel trellis frame and it uses 41mm telescopic front forks and a horizontal back-link monoshock to handle the suspension tasks. The braking duties are performed by twin 272mm rotors with dual-piston callipers at the front and a 186mm single disc with a single-piston calliper at the back.
In terms of competition, the Kawasaki Z650RS goes up against the Triumph Trident 660 and the Z650 as well as the Honda CB650R.
