Unfortunately, when I started exploring, my serious considerations were restricted BMW G310GS and KTM 390 ADV. I did multiple test rides of these two motorcycles. BMW was ruled out quickly, however, KTM 390 ADV was still in contention. Considering my current riding style and the nature of KTM I did not take the plunge. I was waiting patiently for Hero/Harley and Bajaj/Triumph to surprise me. Though I knew about the potential new Himalayan with a brand new 450 cc engine, it was never in my list. This is because I did not believe Royal Enfield will bring a single-cylinder motorcycle with a 40PS power.
We set a limit of mid-2024 and if nothing was finalized, our options were 1) Used V-Strom 650/Versys 650 or 2) New KTM 390 ADV if we are not able to find good used Vs.
Come November 1st week, Royal Enfield surprised me. A brand new Himalayan with 450 CC liquid-cooled engine with nearly 40 ps of power and 40 nm of torque. I took the plunge and pre-booked on the first day. Because this will be my third motorcycle from RE and a first-generation motorcycle from RE with its notorious reputation, I was very clear that I would convert this to booking only after an extensive test ride and only if it fits all my needs.

RE showroom experience was good except they messed up my insurance details.
Superb suspension at stock settings with 845 mm seat height (my height is 178 cm); able to place both heels on the ground, good riding triangle and comfortable, good flick ability for an adventure bike on tarmac
Looks are subjective, I like the old design more however feels and is massive with good road presence; feels like a toned-down version of the Duke 390 engine; miss the 411 low-end torque, and needs to keep above 3,000 rpm however feels peppy and engaged post 4k; improved brakes; optimal instrument console height and angle
    Good service.
will share things that I feel need improvement.
    # Though it looks good, functionally not a fan of the rear/brake light indicator combo.
    # when the bike is inside the stand, it leans way too much.
    # Switch gear especially the pass switch isn't ideal to operate and requires effort and adjustment
    # The headlamp is poor for night / early morning riding
    # For navigation to fully function with maps shown in the top half of the display, the screen needs to stay on (Android auto/car play support would be nice)
    # Heaviness can be felt when trying to park or move around (need to be at high fitness levels)
    # In stock condition for an adventure tourer, a crash guard would be expected as many of the vehicles nowadays come with it; not a fan of hybrid bash plates.
Though I miss the low-end torque of the previous gen, I am ok with the new engine's peppiness which for me seems like an agreeable tradeoff.

Always change the oil after 3000 km and the tube also if you think that tyre is getting cut then you can change it. Always see oil in your bike for smooth rotation. Check brake also it is my advice because when I went off-road I could not see all this it became a huge problem for me.

When someone hears about the Himalayan, they automatically think of a tough motorcycle that can handle any terrain. The updated Himalayan 450 keeps this ruggedness but also brings in some modern style, making it look and feel more advanced than before.
Getting the Himalayan 450 is as simple as riding it. Royal Enfield’s numerous dealerships make purchasing easy. The staff is professional and knowledgeable, making the entire process delightful. Riding this beast is an incredible experience. Its 452cc engine delivers steady power appropriate for both highways and rough mountain terrain. Long journeys or city commutes are made easy and enjoyable, thanks to the comfortable seating and confident handling.
The Himalayan 450 strikes a mix of roughness and elegance, making it ideal for exploration. Its performance has been improved, providing a smoother and more responsive ride. Royal Enfield has improved the serviceability of their motorcycles, notably the Himalayan 450, by offering proper maintenance intervals and a large network of service centers.
Pros: The Himalayan 450’s rugged yet gorgeous design draws attention and embraces the spirit of travel. Riders feel a more refined and competent experience across a range of terrains with this beast.
As a member of the Royal Enfield family, the Himalayan 450 boasts the heritage of a renowned motorcycle manufacturer, ensuring quality and durability. With its adaptable design and aftermarket choices, riders can modify their Himalayan 450 to their specific preferences and demands.
Cons: It may lack advanced current features that competitors provide. The bike’s weight can be felt during low-speed maneuvers, and some riders may find the seat height challenging. Furthermore, its higher price point may prevent budget-conscious shoppers from purchasing it over alternatives.

The bike ride experience is awesome. I ride a bike awesome. Looking bike is superb every 5000km service interval.
No cons on this bike just like I want a tubeless tyre rim. The price is also good just a little bit high on color. I booked this bike on the 10th of September. And I purchase a bike on 26 December 2023. Please buy this bike.

    Tips for other riders

Always change the oil after 3000 km and the tube also if you think that tyre is getting cut then you can change it. Always see oil in your bike for smooth rotation. Check brake also it is my advice because when I went off-road I could not see all this it became a huge problem for me.
