The MV Agusta range of motorcycles will come to India, courtesy the Kinetic Group. Among them the first to touch our shores will be the MV Agusta F3 800. We can expect them to be imported as completely built up units or as semi-knocked down units.

At first glance you will notice that the F3 800 looks exactly like its younger sibling – the F3 675. Adrian Morton, the designer didn’t want a new body work for this bike for a simple reason – it looks beautiful. The overall design language is compact, smooth and chances are that you will fall in love with it instantly. The slightly exposed red steel tube frame gives this supersport a character of its own. The three exhaust pipes have been designed with some incredible finesse and that really compliments the Italian.

As the nomenclature suggests, the F3 800 is powered by a 798cc inline-three cylinder that produces 148bhp at 13,000rpm and maximum torque of 88Nm at 10,600rpm. This new mill is mated to a six-speed gearbox that offers slick change via a slipper clutch. This Italian also gets a smart quickshifter an apt tool for the people who love to race. With a dry weight of 173kg, the F3 800 offers brilliant power to weight ratio. MV Agusta claims a top speed of269kmph for the F3 800.

The F3 800 gets an updated ride-by-wire system. Along with this, it sports an electronic rider aid package, which includes four riding modes - sport, normal, rain and custom. To match this, there is an eight stage traction control, which will keep the tyres planted on the tarmac. The F3 800 gets the same Marzocchi forks and Sachs shock as the F3 675, however, it comes with revised spring and damping rates to suit the 800’s power characteristics. When it comes to braking, it is handled by a double 320mm disc at the front and a 220mm single disc at the rear while the Bosch 9 Plus ABS is standard.

MV Agusta sells the F3 800 AGO edition internationally, but we don’t think this will come to India at the time of the launch. Technically, the MV Agusta F800 has no competition in the Indian market, displacement and price wise. But the Triumph Daytona 675R does come close to it. With a price tag ranging between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 28 lakh, the MV Agusta F3 800 is an expensive proposition but surely a tempting one.
