Introduction
Having separate riding gloves for each season is fantastic. But it is not convenient for everyone when your commute is limited to the city most of the time and occasional weekend jaunts. In this case, be it summer, monsoon, or winter, I prefer having a single pair of short gauntlets that can be used without any care and also come at a reasonable price. So, we’ll be testing the same through the next few months with these Strident short-cuff gloves that Royal Enfield recently sent to us. But before we proceed ahead, let’s take a look at the product first.
Product Details
The Royal Enfield Strident gloves are made of polyester fabric with carbon-fibre knuckle protection. On the inside, it gets a microfibre patch at the top of the palm, followed by a 5mm thick rubber sponge for added safety, and Accordion Stretch Panels below. The wrist area features a polyester webbing strap with velcro. This strap is longer than what usual gloves have and goes completely around your wrist.
Apart from safety, these gloves are oriented towards offering better breathability in summer, something that your leathers aren’t made for. The ones that we have received are coloured black and olive. There’s also a layer of leather on the thumb as well as the first forefinger’s tips to access the phone without having to remove the gloves.
In the coming months, we will be testing the Royal Enfield Strident(s) in summer as well as monsoon. Moreover, these gloves will serve as my primary units for city riding, shoots, and touring as well. Overall, we will get to learn about its various aspects like build quality, usability, durability, and value for money by the end of this test. So, stay tuned for our next report.
