BMC Replacement Air Filter

I have been riding a KTM RC390 for almost three years and I simply love the way the bike performs. The acceleration is pretty intense and gets you smiling every time you whack that throttle open. But after getting used to its performance, the heart only yearns for a little more. One of the simplest ways to enhance performance is to play around with the air filter. Since my standard filter was due for replacement, I decided to try something new. Now BMC is quite a known name when it comes to filters and they obliged when we decided to put their air filter to the test.

Why BMC air filters over stock air filters?

In general, motorcycles require a total particle filtration efficiency up to a minimum size of 10 microns, to avoid any risk of passage of foreign objects that may damage the mechanical components downstream of the intake system (Air Flow Sensors, injectors, valves and segments).

OEM air filters are made of paper and their main function is to protect the engine. These filters have high resistance to the air flow, which reduces the inlet pressure and reduces the engine’s performance. BMC claims their air filters provide a considerably greater air flow. Furthermore, compared to a conventional paper filter, which at the time of maintenance must be replaced, the BMC air filter (being reusable) has a life equal to that of the vehicle itself.

Furthermore, this is a replacement filter which is extremely easy to install (more on that later) and fits in the standard filter box. According to BMC, the replacement filters OEM air filters are made of paper and their main function is to protect the engine. These filters have high resistance to the air flow, which reduces the inlet pressure and reduces the engine’s performance. BMC’s air filters provide a considerably greater air flow. Also, compared to a conventional paper filter, which at the time of maintenance must be replaced, the BMC air filter (being reusable) has a life equal to that of the vehicle itself.

Will it increase the performance of my bike?

Ideally, yes. Thanks to maximum air permeability and higher air flow passage, not only does the bike rev more freely, but also performs more efficiently. Expect very slight bump in power and torque as well.

What’s in the box?

In the box you get the filter which is neatly packed, along with an instruction manual and a BMC sticker.
