Introduction

IBW 2016 has completed its innings for 2016 on quite a successful note. With over 90 biker clubs and 12500 attendees, this IBW has surely brought in the crowds. Being the woodstock of the biking world, we have decided to give you some of the highlights of the last two days.

Custom motorcycles

One of the biggest perks of owning a motorcycle is the ability to customise. At this edition of India Bike Week (and all the others too) we saw many custom motorcycles. While quite few bikers had added stickers and a bit of paint a lot of others had modified their machine to suit their personal choices and sense of style.

National Stunt championship

The national stunt championship has been taking place during each edition of India Bike Week and this is the fourth one. The biggest change about this year’s championship was that the organisers opened entries rather choose clubs. The event saw 32 team across 18 states applying and through a selection process three team participated for top honours. The 2016 championship went to team iStunt from Mumbai while team hot pistons took second place.

Merchandise and gear

Biking is all about identity and there was no shortage of merchants with accessories for the bikes.  There were also multiple dealers selling branded safety gear as well as spare parts. Literally (and with a big budget) one could purchase their full riding gear from shops across the venue.

IBW film festival and speakers

Since the second edition of India Bike Week, The Big Trip company has been showcasing bike related movies and documentaries. This has turned out to be one of the most popular arenas in the IBW venue and has been growing in size for the last three years now. In tow was a large list of speakers who shared their experiences from biking trips around the world.

New Motorcycle unveils

IBW 2016 saw three big brands take the wraps of some new motorcycles to display to the public.

Ducati has launched the Panigale 959 for Rs 14.04 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) while Triumph unveiled its 2016 Bonneville range.

DSK Benelli showcased the TRK 502 and  Tornado 502 and will launch them for the Indian market later this year.

Music

Music has been an intrinsic part of the world of biking and it looks IBW has managed to hit the nail on the head with its lineup every year. This edition saw the likes of Midval Punditz, Thalavattam, DJ Savyo, Black Jack and Karl Hungus take to the stage and woo the crowds.

Dougie Lampkin and CS Santosh

2 men and 2 legendary stories rocked IBW 2016. Dougie Lampkin a multiple time trial bike champion displayed his skills at a specially setup arena.

CS Santosh, India’s Dakar legend, shared with us his experiences as well as the trials and tribulations participating in the Dakar rally.
