Introduction

We are just a week away from India Bike Week 2016. With so much excitement in the air, the organisers have revealed the agenda for the two day festival. Firstly, the event will be held on February 19 and 20 and the venue has now shifted from Hilltop in Vagator to the Arpora Sporting Grounds. Attendance is expected to cross the 12,000 person mark and there will be fun things to do for all. In the run up we have decided to give you a ‘little’ preview of the six hottest things you can expect at this edition of the biking world’s ‘woodstock’.

Dougie Lampkin and CS Santosh

Moto Trials legend Dougie Lampkin will grace the 2016 IBW to participate in a Moto Trials Show, a first for IBW since its inception. The concept of trial biking involves clearing of obstacles (natural or man-made). Like golf, a contestant will only incur a point if they take assistance to clear an obstacle which in this case would be taking their feet off the pedals/pegs.

CS Santosh, now a household name in the Indian motor sports scene thanks to his exploits at the Dakar Rally, will be one of the guests of honour at this year’s event. He will participate in the CEAT safety session and share his key insights into riding safety. Santosh will also be present at Big Trip where he will detail his experiences of the many events he has participated in his career so far.
To inspire a new generation of riders (and literally we mean a new generation) will be Sarthak Chavan an eight-year-old who has undergone professional training in motocross riding.

Dirty20 Enduro Challenge

Rider+ specialised machine+ time limit+ semi dirt track, sounds exciting? Now throw in some obstacles and you have got yourself a real visual, aural and (if you stand too close) soil spattering experience of a life time. The challenge will be open to amateur moto cross teams and there is a grand prize of Rs 75,000 as well as trophy. In the case of the latter victory will be super special as this is the first ever round of this event to be held.

IBW Main Street

Let us put it through simply so that you can picture it and be equally excited when you actually see it. A large street running through the centre of the IBW venue lined with bars, tent and eateries, a parade route in the simplest of terms. Expect to see the hottest bikes, bikers and attendees parading up and down the route during the IBW days.

Moto Art Collective

As the name suggests, it is a collection of motorcycle and bike inspired art being exhibited at a gallery style space in the IBW arena. Expected to highlight the art collective is customised clothing, riding gear designed by Arjun Khanna. There will also be air-brushed helmets, live pinstriping, 2015 projects from India’s most creative bike builders, and moto-photography by Vikram Bawa and Ronnie Sequeira.

IBW 2016 Film Festival

Running parallel to the art collective will be IBW's film festival which will feature travel movies from around the globe. The movies will be shown under three categories – heels on wheels, milestories and two-wheeler talkies. To encourage bikers to share their experiences, there will also be a separate segment for short ride videos with two categories Ride with Pride and My Ride video. Winners get their videos showcased on the IBW website and will also get GoPro cameras.

Music!

No biking festival could ever be complete without a smashing musical performance and line up. Those attending IBW 2016 will get a chance to watch bands like the MIDIval Punditz, The Other People, Thaalavattam and Soulmate perform live. In addition to this there will be music playing the entire day across all parts of the arena.

In addition to these, all the events from the previous iterations like bike build-off, stunt championships, International bike Expo, The Big Trip and of course the bikini bike wash will all take place over the course of the two-day festival.
