- Dispatches to Indonesian dealership start
- Shares engine with Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0
- Yamaha may introduce an FZ25-based ADV in India
Yamaha has commenced the dispatches of the WR155 R dirt/dual-purpose motorcycle in the Indonesian market. The new WR155 R shares its engine with the YZF-R15 V3.0. The off-road spec motorcycle, however, gets a different tuning for the engine to match its nature.
Thus, while the 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine produces 18.4bhp and 14.1Nm on the YZF-R15 V3.0, it develops 16.5bhp and 14.3Nm on the WR155 R. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
The underpinnings and the styling, too, are different from the YZF-R15 V3.0. While the fully-faired bike uses a deltabox frame, the dirt/dual-purpose motorcycle is built around a semi-double cradle frame. Given its off-road biased character, the Yamaha WR155 R rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels.
Hardware on the WR155 R includes long-travel 41mm front forks and a preload-adjustable, gas-charged rear mono-shock to perform the shock absorption tasks. Anchoring power comes from a 240mm single-disc at the front and a 220mm rotor at the back.
The Indian launch details for the WR155 R are not available yet, although it may not reach our markets. While the WR155 R may not make it to India, Yamaha is eyeing the small-capacity adventure motorcycle market in our market with great interest. As reported earlier, Yamaha may develop an FZ25-based adventure bike for the Indian market.
