MV Agusta had announced a new Brutale 800 at the 2015 EICMA Show in Milan, complete with a series of cosmetic and mechanical updates. While the 2015 Brutale 800 that we had tested (you can read the review here) was just a trailer, the Italian manufacturer is planning to bring out the new 2016 Brutale 800 to India by July, this year.
Aesthetically, the Brutale 800 is now more streamlined and aerodynamic than its predecessor. The fuel tank, exhaust pipes, headlamp and the tail lamp all have been redesigned to give the bike a more aggressive look. The tail section now features a void just below the riding seat, while the vents and ducts have been repositioned.
The main motive of bringing technological updates to the bike was to make it Euro 4 compliant. As a result, the 798cc three-pot engine has been detuned and now produces 116bhp as opposed to the previous bike's 125bhp. Apart from an eight-level traction control system and ABS, the electronics package now also includes a quickshifter.
The frame has been revised to extend the wheelbase by 20mm, while the trail has been increased by 8.5mm. The Brutale 800 comes shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres. The new aluminium subframe should help in cutting a significant amount of weight. The suspension and brake setup have been carried over from the 2015 model.
The MV Agusta Brutale 800 will be the most affordable bike in the company's Indian line-up and as such, we can also expect it to be the most popular product. Motorcycle enthusiasts have been turning to streetfighters thanks to their massive street presence, aggressive nature and versatility. With this market space experiencing steady growth over the past few months, the exotic appeal of Brutale 800 should definitely help its cause and help it generate adequate volumes for the company. The Brutale 800 will compete with other streetfighters like the Ducati Monster 821 and the Triumph Street Triple R.
