The Thruxton R is the sportier and more conteporatry version of the standard Thruxton cafe racer. Unlike the Bonneville, which takes a more laid-back approach towards motorcycling, the Thruxton range is heavily inspired by the sporty Grand Prix road racing motorcycles of the 1960s. The 2016 Thruxton R has been comprehensively updated with a new frame, engine and a host of technological upgrades, making it a true 'modern classic'. The new Thruxton R harks back to the original Thruxton 500 Racer, an endurance racing motorcycle from the 1960s.
With its imposing stance and classic styling, the Thruxton R represents the remarkable evolution of the iconic cafe racers of the bygone era.
The orange tinted indicators, bar-end mirrors and the chromed headlamp give the Thruxton R its familiar look.
The rear also gets a clean and minimalistic profile, though the tail lamp assembly does get LEDs to add a touch of bling.
The old-school twin-pod instrument cluster gets an analogue speedometer and tachometer, along with a digital display.
At the heart of the Thruxton R is a 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, which puts out 112Nm of torque.
The engine fins provide additional cooling for the engine, thereby helping Triumph keep the radiator's size as small as possible.
The Thruxton R comes with modern Showa front forks and Brembo forks, which make it a true performer, rather than just a showpiece.
The fully adjustable Ohlins suspension, high-performance Brembo brakes and the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres hint at the Thruxton R's capabilities.
The twin upswept exhausts are finished in chrome and croon a deep and high bass exhaust note, to suit the Thruxton R's character.
The Thruxton R comes loaded with rider assists including ABS, traction control, rider modes and slip assist clutch.
Triumph is offering the Thruxton R in two paint schemes -
Diablo red
