Triumph has gone ahead and taken the wraps off the new Tiger Sport. The motorcycle has not only received a facelift but has also had subsequent changes in the performance department.
Starting with the engine, the Tiger Sport will see an all-new liquid-cooled, in-line three-cylinder 1050cc engine similar to the one in the Tiger Sport. This engine makes 140bhp at 9,500rpm and 112Nm at 7,800rpm in the Speed Triple and will likely have a different state of tune on the Tiger Sport. The new engine incorporates new developments like the new piston and crankshaft design, new combustion chamber design and ride-by-wire throttle bodies. The Tiger Sport also comes with a slip-assist clutch which is coupled to a six-speed gearbox to make maximum use of the available power whilst providing a long ratio for top gear long distance cruising.
In terms of styling, the motorcycle is restyled and with all new livery available in subtle matte black with neon yellow detailing or striking aluminium silver with red details. The overall design language of the Tiger Sport is much sharper. Furthermore, the Tiger Sport’s single sided swingarm gives a clean finish while completing the new look are revised engine covers, new mirrors and a billet machined rear wheel spindle finisher. The motorcycle also comes with restyled, grippier footpegs, a tinted, adjustable screen and handguards as standard.
Coming to the electronics, the new ECU and ride-by-wire throttle system opens up the new Tiger Sport to a host of rider-focused technology. This means the new Tiger Sport gives an instant response to rider input. Added to this are a choice of rider modes, enabling the rider to select the throttle response and traction control to suit the conditions. Available modes are Rain, Road and Sport. The Sport mode allows the rider to get maximum performance from the three-cylinder engine while Rain reduces overall power delivery. The all-new instrument panel, including two trip computers and a live fuel gauge gives the information to the rider. Moreover, the motorcycle also comes equipped with cruise control.
The new Tiger Sport will be showcased at the London Motorcycle Show, to be held at Excel on 12th February. There are still no details on the pricing and Indian launch of the motorcycle.
