KTM has issued a recall on the 690 Duke affecting 718 units in the US. The recall is due to a fault with the bike’s fuel filler cap. The issue is that the fuel may leak out of the filler cap when riding or even when the bike is standing still. This is an obvious safety concern as the leaked fuel may ignite, posing a threat to the rider and those around the bike.
The manufacturer had initiated recall procedures from 20 June. KTM says that it does not have a remedy yet and is still investigating on the issue. This would take up to 120 days to create. Due to the extended time, KTM could be barred from selling the 690 Duke in the US until the company comes up with a solution. KTM received reports regarding the issue through customer feedback. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of US also received 10 customer complaints reporting fuel leaking from the tank.
Of course, the recall doesn’t affect the Indian market since the model isn’t sold here, but if you’re interested in a streetfighter that is a hooligan at heart, KTM does offer the smaller yet potent 390 Duke.
