Yamaha has just introduced the all-new 2017 SCR950. This motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer will take on the growing competition in the scrambler segment. The SCR950 will join the VMAX, XSR900 and the SR400 in their international “Sport Heritage” model line-up.
Yamaha say that the SCR950 features classic Yamaha styling, tracing its roots back to the iconic DT250. They also say that the modern components it uses blurs the line between “cruiser” and “sportbike.”
The SCR950 is powered by a 942cc, air-cooled V-twin engine, fuel-injected engine with four valves per cylinder. The engine is designed to provide healthy low end torque which is necessary for a motorcycle of its type. The motorcycle hosts a double-cradle frame with centrally mounted footpegs. In typical fashion, the scrambler also features wide and tall handlebars.
To add to the retro-ness to this bike Yamaha has gone with the retro-racing number-plate-styled side covers, fork gaiters, wire-spoked aluminium rims. Along with a 2-into-1 exhaust pipe with upswept muffler, and long low-profile seat. And to keep it up to date it hosts modern touches like an LCD speedometer, LED taillight, flangeless fuel tank, modern brakes with wave-type rotors and a low-maintenance carbon-fibre-core belt final drive.
The SCR950 will be available in two colours: Charcoal Silver and Rapid Red. Each colour scheme is complemented by racing-inspired red, white, and black graphics. At the moment, there is no news on the Indian launch of this motorcycle.
