MV Augusta has unveiled the 2018 F4 RC. It’s a cosmetically enhanced version of the Italian bikemaker’s flagship rocket on two wheels. It could probably be the swansong for the bike since the F4 is not Euro 4 compliant and can only be sold under special rules till the end of next year.
The most obvious visual enhancement is that the bike has been painted along the lines of their WSBK machine ridden by Leon Camier. The scheme is prominently a white and red colour combination with green inserts. To keep the authenticity, you also get stickers of all the sponsors of the WSBK team.
To connect to its lengthy and illustrious racing heritage MV Augusta has painted ‘37’ stickers on the front left bit of the faring as well as the belly pan. It’s in homage to their 37 bike racing titles that they have won as a bike manufacturer.
It’s a slightly old design but is loaded to the tip of its chrome exhaust with race bike technology. No doubt all derived from the many laps that Leon and his predecessor have spent hanging off the bike and pushing it to its very limit.
In essence, it’s a race bike that’s been made road legal. To boost this, MV Augusta offers you a bunch racing bits which enhance the looks as well the performance. This comes in a wooden box and comprises a quick release fuel cap, carbon fibre heat shields and single seat tail cover.
However, the highlight of this racing package is a modified ECU and exhaust package that boosts the ‘standard’ output from 205bhp to 212bhp. This bike may be quite old among its contemporaries but with 205bhp it is no slouch when it comes to rocketing off the start-finish line.
