- It gets the same engine as the TNT 25
- The bike was unveiled at the EICMA 2017 as a concept model
- It is likely to be launched in the Indian market
Benelli showcased the production version of its quarter-litre adventure tourer bike – TRK 251, at the EICMA 2018 motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. It was unveiled at last year’s EICMA in the concept form.
The Benelli TRK 251 looks similar to its elder sibling, the TRK 502. The front is dominated by a sharp beak-like fairing accompanied by minimalistic twin-headlamp setup, tall windscreen and single-unit handlebar. It rides on 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels on both ends that are shod with 110/70 tyre on the front and 150/60 tyre at the rear.
Powering the TRK 251 is the same motor that does duty on the TNT 25. It’s a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 25bhp of power at 9000rpm and 21Nm of torque at 7500rpm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The TRK 251 is based on a steel trellis frame that is suspended on 41mm upside-down forks on the front and 51mm monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by a 280mm floating disc with four-piston caliper on the front and 240mm disc with single-piston caliper at the back. It gets a 17-litre fuel tank and has a kerb weight of as low as 153kg.
The Benelli TRK 251 will be officially launched next year and it is also likely to arrive on the Indian shores. When launched here, the TRK 251 will go against the similar bikes such as the BMW G310GS and the Kawasaki Versys X-300.
