- TVS’ Aishwarya Pissay slips down to 16th position
- Abdul Wahid Tanveer maintains his third spot
- Next leg will be a 220km course with sand dunes
The third leg of the 2019 Desert Storm rally concluded on Friday with the riders speeding their way through 190km of special section which comprised of sand dunes and hard gravel.
Competing in what was a tricky marathon stage, Hero’s CS Santosh topped the SS6 of leg 3 by recording the fastest time amongst all the riders. Notably, this is the stage in which the Indian rider had crashed in last year’s Desert Storm. Despite the Hero rider being the fastest, Adrien Metge’s (TVS) consistent dominance in the first two legs helped him stay on top in the provisional ranking. Metge recorded a stage time of 2:46:40 hours. Furthermore, CS Santosh was followed by TVS’ Abdul Wahid Tanveer on the third spot while R Nataraj and Rajendra RE remained intact into the top five bagging fourth and fifth spots in the overall ranking.
Even after being charged a penalty of 20mins in the first leg, Aishwarya Pissay of TVS Racing made her way to the top 10 in leg 2. However, the third leg brought a bit of setback for the lady rider as she slipped down to 16th position (overall) owing to technical issues in her motorcycle.
The next leg will be the concluding day of the 2019 Desert Storm comprising of a 220km route majorly consisting of sand dunes.
