Suzuki recently brought the legendary ‘Katana’ moniker to life with a 2019 version. Here is a detailed photo gallery of the bike.
The 2019 Katana derives styling from the 1981 model and gets its distinctive square headlamp, nose fairing and short black windscreen.
The Japanese manufacturer has adorned the new Katana with the same red lettering and logo that the original bike used.
However, the 2019 model’s sports sharp lines and creases that boost its modern appeal.
The bike gets full LED lighting for its headlamp along with LED position lamps on both sides and a split LED-tail lamp setup.
The 2019 Katana uses a 999cc, inline-four cylinder engine from the GSX-S1000 that produces 150bhp and 108Nm of torque.
Suzuki has equipped the bike with a three-mode traction control system, ABS and slipper clutch as standard.
It gets an LCD instrument cluster similar to the GSX-R1000 that displays all basic information and can be used to manage the electronic aids.
The bike rides on 43mm KYB inverted forks up front and a monoshock at the rear while braking setup has been sourced from Brembo.
The Katana tips the scale at 215kg and sports a rather small 12-litre fuel tank.
We can expect Suzuki to introduce the 2019 Katana in India sometime next year. It will go head on against the Kawasaki Z900 RS here.
