- KTM shows 1290 Super Duke prototype in video
- Reveals aero winglets, revised frame and sub-frame
- Fourth teaser before official unveiling at EICMA on 5 November
KTM has added yet another video to its string of teasers for the 2020 edition of the 1290 Super Duke. Unlike the previous videos which showed glimpses of the motorcycle, the Austrian bike maker has now clearly revealed the motorcycle, albeit in its prototype form.
In the video, the motorcycle is shown being tested on a race track, similar to the previous teasers. Being a prototype, it misses out on a headlamp, tail lamp and turn indicators. However, it clearly reveals the changes it carries over its predecessor. The sharper tank extensions feature the Super Duke R-styled graphics along with aero winglets on both sides which will provide better down force. The redesigned tubular steel frame can also be spotted accompanied by a new cast aluminum sub-frame, which has replaced the steel unit of the existing version.
The video shows the motorcycle doing rounds of the race track, emanating a loud and throaty exhaust note from the revised version of its 1,103cc, V-twin motor. As we had reported earlier, the engine will see a mild hike in its power figures despite being compliant with more stringent emission norms. Besides the updated motor, KTM’s flagship street naked will also feature more advance electronics package along with reworked cycle parts.
KTM has showed the prototype version certainly to create more hype before the production version of the motorcycle is revealed in its entirety at the EICMA show on 5 November. Until then, stay tuned to BikeWale as we bring you complete details about the orange monster.
