- Honda’s Ricky Brabec leads stage 3
- His team mates Jose and Kevin finish second and third
- Shero TVS’ Johnny Aubert ends the day on 11th rank
The 504km stage three of the Dakar Rally 2020 saw the riders traversing through the challenging terrain of Neom in Saudi Arabia. It comprised of a 427km special (timed) section which was dominated by Honda riders who booked the top three spots. While Honda’s Ricky Brabec led the race by clocking 3h29s, his team mates Jose Ignacio and Kevin Benavides closely followed him on second and third positions, respectively.
Talking about the India teams, Sherco TVS’ Adrien Metge inched close to top 10 as he advanced from 20th position in stage 2 to 11th rank in stage 3. His team mate Lorenzo Santolino followed him on 13th position while TVS’ Johnny Aubert finished 21st, progressing from 24th place in the previous stage. Meanwhile, results were not very fruitful for Hero MotoSports as the team’s Sebastian Buhler finished stage 3 at 20th position while CS Santosh and Paulo Goncalves ended the day on 50th and 126th ranks, respectively.
In the overall standings, while Honda’s Ricky and Kevin have clinched the top two positions, KTM’s Mitthias Walkner stood third. In stage 4, the riders will be covering a longer distance of 672km with a highly demanding 453km of special section from Neom to Al-‘Ula.
