- Harley-Davidson unveils 2020 Softail Standard
- Most affordable model in the Softail family
- Launched in the UK, US and Australia
Harley-Davidson has unveiled the 2020 edition of its bobber-styled motorcycle, the Softail Standard, for the international markets. This is the most affordable offering in the American bike maker’s Softail line-up.
The Softail Standard boasts of styling elements of a quintessential bobber such as an ape-hanger handlebar with puny mirrors, peanut-shaped fuel tank, single-piece seat with scooped design, chopped rear fender and dual shotgun exhausts. Harley has bestowed the motorcycle with a healthy dose of chrome on various body parts which lend it a retro appeal.
Notably, the Softail Standard has the least bells and whistles amongst other members of the Softail family which makes it suitable for different types of customisations. Interestingly, the company is offering four accessory packages which allow fitting constituents like a pillion seat and footpegs, besides other cosmetic add-ons.
At the heart of the bobber is Harley’s Mailwaukee-Eight 107 engine which is a 1,750cc, V-twin motor capable of producing 145Nm of peak torque. It rides on 19-inch front and 16-inch rear spoke wheels with dual bending valve cartridge front forks and monoshock for damping. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends. It tips the scales at 291kgs (dry).
As of now, the Harley-Davidson Softail Standard is launched in the UK, US and Australia. Whether the company will bring it to the Indian shores remains uncertain right now.
