Honda has announced the 2020 CBR250RR for the Japanese market. The motorcycle will be available for sale in Japan in September this year. The latest iteration of the quarter-litre motorcycle comes with new colours and more power output than before. Here we explain the details about the 2020 Honda CBR250RR.
Design
Honda has retained the design from the outgoing version, and the 2020 iteration of the CBR250RR continues to feature a sharp and edgy styling. The design includes twin-pod headlight, full fairing, sculpted fuel tank and dual exhaust design. The feature list continues to comprise of full-LED lighting, throttle-by-wire and an LCD instrument cluster. While the styling hasn’t changed much, Honda has added more colours options. The 2020 Honda CBR250RR is available in four colours – Matt Gun Powder Black Metallic, Pearl Glare White, Grand Prix Red and Grand Prix red (striped).
Engine
Honda has revised the mechanical specifications and the 2020 model makes more power than before. The 249cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine now produces 40.2bhp at 13,000rpm and 25Nm of torque at 11,000rpm. In comparison, the previous model was tuned to draw 37.5bhp and 23Nm from the same motor. The engine is linked to a six-speed transmission. While an assist-slipper clutch system comes as standard, a quick-shifter is available as an optional extra.
Hardware
The hardware, similar to the previous model, includes inverted telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the back to perform the suspension tasks. Anchoring department comprises of petal-type rotors at both ends while the safety net includes dual-channel ABS. Throttle-by-wire tech brings three riding modes (Sport, Sport+ and Comfort) to the package. The 17-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in 110/70-section front and 140/70-section rear tyres.
Price and availability
The Grand Prix red (striped) colour is available at 854,700 yen (Rs 6.01 lakh) while the Matt Gun Powder Black Metallic, Pearl Glare White and Grand Prix Red paint options are priced at 821,700 yen (Rs 5.78 lakh). The motorcycle will be available for purchase from 18 September 2020.
