- KTM teases 2020 model of 1290 Super Duke once again
- Reveals loud exhaust note of Akrapovic race kit
- Shows aero winglets on tank extensions
With the 2019 EICMA show just a couple of days away, bike makers are flooding the internet with teasers of models which will be unveiled at the grand event. KTM had recently released a teaser video of the upcoming edition of its flagship naked, the 1290 Super Duke. Now, to further excite us, the Austrian manufacturer has released another teaser of its manic streetfighter giving us more insights about the motorcycle.
Firstly, the Super Duke has always been applauded for its ear-shattering exhaust note and the new model will retain that virtue. The video gives away the intimidating roar of the motorcycle after it’s revved, which is loud enough for a technician to cover his ears. This is courtesy of the Akrapovic race exhaust, as shown in the video. Yet another interesting bit is the glimpse of the aero winglets mounted on the tank extensions, which will certainly aid in better downforce when the bike is being gunned down a straight patch of asphalt.
As we had reported earlier, the 2020 Super Duke will be underpinned by a new trellis frame with a light-weight aluminum sub-frame bolted on. The powerplant has also been revised to produce slightly higher power despite the more controlled emissions for Euro 5 compliance. The existing 1301cc, V-twin motor of the bike pumps out 174bhp of power and 141Nm of torque. To keep that enormous amount of power in check, the Super Duke is decked up with electronics which is likely to be updated for 2020.
All of that points towards a major upgrade to the existing 1290 Super Duke. In order to confirm that and acquire more details, we’ll have to wait until 5 November when the motorcycle will be revealed in all its glory at the EICMA show in Milan.
