Yamaha Motors has updated its product portfolio in Japan with the launch of the 2020 Tricity 155. The three-wheeled scooter, which was unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, has been launched in the Japanese market at 484,000 Yen* (Rs 3.44 lakh**). The scooter will be available for sale from 15 May 2020 onwards.
The Tricity 155 uses two-wheels at the front and a single-wheel at the back. The Leaning Multi Wheel (LMW) tech on the scooter is claimed to deliver a stable ride. The aggressive styling of the scooter is complemented by premium features such as LED headlight, LED position lamp, an LED taillight, a fully-digital instrument cluster with an Eco lamp, large under-seat storage (23.5-litre) with LED lighting and a 12V socket. The instrument cluster displays information such as digital speedometer, clock and outside temperature.
The convenience features on the Tricity 155 include a parking brake that’s located under the left-side switchgear. The 765mm seat height will make it easily accessible to a wide range of riders. The company claims that the saddle gets sufficient cushion thickness despite the low seat height. The colour palette includes three options – Blueish Gray, Matt Gray and White Metallic.
The mechanical specifications include a 155cc, liquid-cooled, SOHC, four-valve engine with fuel injection and Yamaha’s Variable Value Actuation (VVA) system. The motor is tuned to produce 14.7bhp of maximum power at 8,000rpm and 14Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm.
The shock absorption tasks are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a unit swing suspension at the back. Braking duties are performed by disc brakes on both wheels while the safety net includes Unified Braking System (UBS) and Antilock Brake System (ABS).
