- Aprilia launches 2021 GPR250R in China
- Gets a refreshed design and a new TFT dash
- India launch unlikely in the near future
This year’s Xi’an Auto Expo in China witnessed the launching of the new 2021 Aprilia GPR250R fully-faired motorcycle. The Italian bike maker has bestowed it with a host of desirable updates over the outgoing iteration.
With the revamped styling that’s aggressive and sporty, the GPR250R looks as track-ready as the KTM RC 390 and the TVS Apache RR310 available in India. Certain areas of its body panels have been sharpened and the bike looks clearly inspired by its bigger RSV4 sibling. Underneath its three-piece headlamp are air intakes and winglet-like panels.
Aprilia has also replaced its semi-digital instrument cluster with a new colour TFT display showing a host of info. What else has been marginally altered is its 250cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 27.5bhp and 21.5Nm now. This is a slight bump in power and a minor drop in its torque output as compared to its predecessor. The engine works in tandem with a six-speed gearbox that also gets a slipper clutch.
The Aprilia GPR250R is based on a perimeter frame and rides on 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. Suspension duties are handled by upside down forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. A single disc at both ends deliver braking forces along with a dual-channel ABS setup.
It’s highly uncertain that Aprilia will launch the GPR250R in India in the near future. But on a positive note, the manufacturer is working on sub-400cc motorcycles for the Indian market and you can read about them here.
