- Gets styling and mechanical upgrades
- Updated motor makes 24bhp and 23Nm
- Features improved ground clearance
Honda has revealed the 2021 iterations of its quarter-litre, dual purpose motorcycles, the CRF250L and the CRF250L Rally. The changes include both mechanical and visual upgrades to the motorcycles.
In terms of styling, the 2021 models get a CRF450R competition motocross machine inspired design along with a new LED headlight and LED blinkers. The Rally model further benefits from a large windscreen and cowl that offer wind protection. Both models will be available in the Extreme Red paint option.
The 2021 Honda CRF250L and CRF250L Rally will use a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that is claimed to deliver an easy-to-use output characteristics. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor makes 24bhp at 9,000rpm and 23Nm at 6,500rpm. The company has made changes to the intake valve timing by changing the camshaft on the intake side.
The new models also get a newly designed air cleaner, exhaust pipe, and muffler that are aimed to optimise intake and exhaust efficiency. Moreover, the six-speed gearbox now benefits from a new assist slipper clutch.
The engine sits in a newly designed frame, and its position is 20mm higher. Changing the shape of the crankcase and arranging the drain bolt position at the bottom of the engine has helped improve the ground clearance further, which is 30mm higher than before.
The suspension setup, too, has received changes, and the CRF250L gets 10mm and 20mm increase in travel at the front and at the back, respectively. Both models use inverted telescopic front forks and a rear mono-shock to perform the shock absorption tasks. The braking setup includes hydraulic discs on both wheels while the safety net includes a switchable, dual-channel ABS.
