- Recall affects 84 units in the USA
- Affected units could be missing an internal component
- Owners are advised to not ride their motorcycle until fixed
Kawasaki Motors Corporation has recalled certain 2021 Ninja ZX-14R motorcycles in the USA. The front brake master cylinder on the affected models may be missing an internal component, which interferes with the intended flow of the hydraulic fluid in certain situations, thus resulting in an inconsistent front braking force.
Kawasaki said in the recall notice that it received an interim report from the supplier and confirmed that “overstroke of front brake lever” was reproduced by removing the internal component. The supplier suspected that the missing part could be due to a manufacturing error attributable to a single worker at the supplier’s facility.
This recall affects 84 units of the 2021 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R. The Japanese two-wheeler brand will notify owners, and the dealers will replace the front brake master cylinder, free of charge. Kawasaki has added a white mark on the head pipe of repaired units. Meanwhile, owners are advised to not ride their motorcycle until the repair is complete.
