- 2021 MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR to get Euro5-compliant engine
- Likely to retain the styling cues from the 2020 model
- India launch unlikely soon
MV Agusta will unveil the 2021 Brutale 1000 RR today. The 2021 model will most likely retain the styling cues of its predecessor, although it will get mechanical upgrades to comply with the newer emission norms.
The Italian two-wheeler manufacturer gave a brief glimpse of the 2021 iteration of the motorcycle through teaser photographs. The 2021 Brutale 1000 RR will continue to feature a muscular design along with features such as full-LED lighting, clip-on style handlebars, colour-TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, step-up seat, tall-set exhaust canisters, and a single-sided swingarm. The graphics, too, are likely to remain similar to the 2020 model.
The mechanical specifications should retain the 998cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The Euro4 model was tuned to produce 205bhp at 13,000rpm and 116.5Nm of peak torque at 11,000rpm. We do not expect to see a drastic fall in the power and torque output numbers during the emission norm upgrade, and the Euro5-compliant model should deliver similar figures as the Euro4 motorcycle. The six-speed gearbox will benefit from a bidirectional quickshifter.
The Euro4 model already packed a comprehensive electronics package, and the 2021 iteration should retain the safe rider aids. Thus, the RR model will benefit from an IMU platform and feature electronic rider aids such as four riding modes, switchable traction control, wheelie control, launch control, ABS with race mode, and rear lift-up mitigation. The premium hardware on the RR model will include Ohlins-sourced electronically-adjustable suspension setup and Brembo-sourced callipers.
The motorcycle will reach several international markets soon, although its India launch is not likely to happen in the foreseeable future.
