MV Agusta has revealed the 2021 F3 800 Rosso for the international markets, and the motorcycle packs more than just mechanical upgrades to comply with the new emission norms. MV Agusta is yet to make an announcement about its return to the Indian market and thus we do not expect to see the F3 Rosso on our shores in the near future. While we await more details about the company’s plans for India, here we explain the new MV Agusta F3 Rosso in detail.
Engine
One of the major updates on the 2021 MV Agusta F3 Rosso is its Euro5 emission norms compliance. While the motorcycle retains the 798cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled layout, the power and torque figures have witnessed a marginal decline. The updated motor produces 145bhp of power at 13,000rpm and 87Nm of peak torque at 10,100rpm as against 146bhp at 13,000rpm and 88Nm at 10,600rpm on its predecessor. The motor on the 2021 also gets a DLC coating for the cylinder walls, redesigned valve guides for reduced friction, and new injectors.
MV Agusta has also reworked the exhaust system and the updated setup is claimed to deliver improved torque and power curves at all speeds. Other changes to the 2021 model include an updated firmware for the ECU and a new bi-directional flow radiator.
Features
The feature list on the 2021 F3 Rosso includes an updated electronic package that works with a new IMU inertial platform. The new IMU setup brings additional rider aids such as cornering ABS, a lean-sensitive traction control system, and a front lift control to the middleweight supersport model.
The cockpit, too, gets a major overhaul and the new model gets a Bluetooth-enabled 5.5-inch TFT display that works with MV Ride App. The smartphone application is available for both, iOS and Android platforms and it allows the rider to customise every aspect of the motorcycle. The display also features a turn-by-turn navigation function.
Lastly, the six-speed transmission on the 2021 model gets the third-generation Quick-Shift EAS 3.0 bi-directional quickshifter.
Design
Unlike the mechanical specifications and the feature list, the styling has not received any major makeover. Thus, the 2021 MV Agusta F3 Rosso continues to feature a single-pod headlight, rear-view mirror integrated turn indicators, a full-fairing design, split-style seats, triple-outlet exhaust canisters, and a single-sided swingarm. The exhaust setup features a shaper design than its predecessor.
Hardware
The suspension setup on the motorcycle includes Marzocchi upside-down front fork and a Sachs rear mono-shock – both fully adjustable. The anchoring power comes from twin discs at the front and a single rotor at the back that are grabbed by Brembo-sourced callipers. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends.
