Yamaha recently introduced the 2021 Tracer 9 GT tourer in the Japanese market at Yen 1,452,000 (Rs 9.75 lakh). The sports tourer from the two-wheeler brand will be available in Japan from 28 July, 2021. The motorcycle is also available in several international markets, although its Indian launch is not likely to happen any time soon. Meanwhile, we bring you a detailed image gallery of the 2021 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT.
The Tracer 9 GT is based on the new MT-09 naked roadster. The sports tourer, however, benefits from a semi-fairing design and a tall windscreen that deliver better protection against windblasts.
The 2021 model gets several styling and mechanical upgrades over its predecessor. These include a new suspension setup, revised styling, an updated engine, a new frame, and an six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).
The motorcycle shares its 890cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with the new MT-09. Linked to a six-speed transmission, the motor is tuned to produce 118bhp of maximum power at 10,000rpm and 93Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm.
The styling revisions to the 2021 model include an YZF-R1 inspired front fascia, an adjustable windscreen, a semi-fairing, knuckle guards, and split-style seats. The underbelly exhaust layout gives the Tracer 9 GT a clean look from the sides.
The feature list on the motorcycle includes full-LED lighting, cornering lights, a redesigned taillight, and a split-style digital instrument cluster.
The electronic rider aids comprise four riding modes, a cruise control system, a bidirectional quickshifter, a traction control system, slide control, wheelie control, slipper clutch, and heated grips. The electronics package now works with a six-axis IMU.
The motorcycle uses KYB-sourced semi-active suspension setup that works with the IMU and ECU. The setup comprises upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock. The braking tasks are handled by dual 298mm discs at the front and a single 245mm rotor at the back.
