BMW Motorrad India has announced the launch of the 2022 F 850 GS and F 850 GS Adventure in our market. These middleweight adventure tourer models rival the likes of Triumph Tiger 900 Rally and Ducati Multistrada 950 in the Indian market. Here we list the top five highlights of the 2022 BMW F 850 GS and F 850 GS Adventure.
Styling
The 2022 iterations of the motorcycles retain the styling cues from their respective predecessors. Thus, the F 850 GS and the F 850 GS Adventure continue to feature an asymmetric design for the headlight, an adjustable windscreen, a single-piece step-up saddle, tubeless-tyre compatible wire-spoke wheels, and a tall-set exhaust.
The Adventure variant, which is designed for long distance touring, packs a fuel tank that is eight litres larger (23-litre vs 15-litre) than the standard model. This results in higher kerb weight, and the F 850 GS Adventure tips the weighing scale at 248kg. The standard model, for reference, has a kerb weight of 233kg.
The suspension tasks are handled by upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The braking duties are performed by twin discs at the front and a single rotor at the back. Both variants ride on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear cross-spoke wheels that are tubeless-tyre compatible.
Colours
The standard BMW F 850 GS is available in a single colour option – Rallye style. The new BMW F 850 GS Adventure, on the other hand, is listed in Rallye style and Style Triple Black paint options. The Style Triple Black colour on the F 850 GS Adventure features black paint for the rims. The Rallye style colour, on the other hand, comes with gold paint for the rims.
Engine
Both variants use the same BS6-compliant 853cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve, twin-cylinder engine. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor is tuned to deliver 95bhp of power at 8,250rpm and 92Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm.
Features
The feature list on both motorcycles comprises full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled 6.5-inch full-colour-TFT display, quickshifter, keyless ride, and heated grips. The electronic rider aids comprise two riding modes (Rain and Road), ABS, automatic stability control, and cruise control. The Riding modes Pro (Dynamic and Enduro), traction control, and banking capable (cornering) ABS are also part of the package.
Prices and Availability
The 2022 BMW F 850 GS is priced at Rs 12.50 lakh while the Adventure variant is available at Rs 13.25 lakh (both ex-showroom, India). The two motorcycles would be imported as Completely Built-up Units (CBU). The bookings are open across the country and the deliveries are scheduled to commence in June 2022.
