Honda has updated its 125cc mini-bike, the MSX125 Grom, for the international markets. The motorcycle has received several updates for the new model year which promise to make it even more fun and useable. There are several traits of the Grom that are worth noting and we tell you all of them in this image gallery.
The mini-bike theme of the Grom was incepted by Honda in 1963 with its legendary Monkey bike. Later on, it carried different names like the Dax and Ape before Honda brought back the original Monkey nameplate in 2018.
Retaining the original essence with compact dimensions and light weight, the 2022 Grom has received subtle tweaks to its styling that make it look even cooler and funkier.
The bodywork has been designed in a way that it can be easily tinkered with for customization as per the owner’s preferences.
Honda has also updated the instrument cluster of the Grom. The LCD dash now shows additional information like the rev counter and gear position indicator.
A major mechanical change comes in the form of the addition of fifth gear. Powering the bike is a 125cc, air-cooled, two valve engine that produces 9.5bhp at 7,250rpm and 10.5Nm at 5,500rpm.
As compact as the Grom is, it is equally light at 103kg (kerb), making it a perfect city runabout. The fuel tank capacity is much lesser than our conventional motorcycles at six-litre.
It rides on 12-inch wheels that are suspended by premium 31mm upside down forks and a monoshock. Braking is handled by a 220mm disc at the front and a 190mm disc at the rear.
As for its India entry, Honda is unlikely to ever bring it here. The company had experimented with the similar-looking Navi that sold well initially but the response fizzled out over time.
