Kawasaki has launched the 2022 iteration of the Vulcan 900 in the US. The cruiser motorcycle sits in the middle of the Vulcan S and the Vulcan 1700 that the company offers in the US. The Vulcan 900 has three variants on offer: Classic, Classic LT and Custom. The chances of the Vulcan 900 making it to the Indian market are pretty slim as the company already offers the Vulcan S in the country that retails with a price tag of Rs 6.04 lakh. To know more about the new model, let's take a look at the details of the 2022 Vulcan 900.
Design
The Vulcan 900 is a cruiser motorcycle that gets a sleek look. The motorcycle comes with a single piece seat with a grab handle strap and twin exhaust pipes. The bike carries a circular theme for a few equipment like the headlamp, indicators and mirrors. All three variants of the Vulcan 900 are offered with different colour options. The Vulcan 900 Classic is available in Metallic Dark Green/Pearl Robotic White colour. The Vulcan 900 Custom is offered in the Pearl Nightshade Teal/Metallic Graphite Gray colour option. Meanwhile, the Vulcan 900 Classic LT is available in the Pearl Robotic White/Pearl Nightshade Teal paint scheme.
Engine
The heart of the matter here is a 903cc liquid-cooled V-twin FI engine that delivers 78.9Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. All this torque is taken to its wheels via a five-speed transmission. This engine uses a dual throttle valve technology that restricts the torque rush, when the rider opens the throttle to ensure the motorcycle's stability.
Features
All the variants of the Vulcan 900 are offered with different features. The Vulcan 900 Classic is offered with features like rider floorboards with a heel/toe shifter and tank-mounted instrumentation. The Vulcan Classic LT standard gets passenger backrest, studded seat, leather saddlebags and height-adjustable windscreen. Meanwhile, the Vulcan 900 Custom is offered with features like a lower seat height, custom styling with teardrop tank, pinstripe wheels, drag bars and forward-mounted footpegs.
Hardware
The ride here is taken care of by 41mm Showa telescopic forks at the front and Uni-Trak swingarm, seven-way adjustable spring preload suspension at the rear. The motorcycle uses a hydraulic braking system that employs a 300mm single disc at the front and a 270mm single disc at the rear. The Classic and Classic LT variants get a 16-inch wheel with a 130mm wide rubber at the front and a 15-inch wheel with a 180mm wide rubber at the rear. Meanwhile, the Custom variant gets a 21-inch wheel at the front and a 15-inch wheel at the rear. These wheels are wrapped in tyres having 80mm width at the front and 180mm width at the rear.
