2023 BMW M 1000 XR Prototype teased in India

- BMW M 1000 XR to be launched soon in India

- Will feature S 1000 XR styling with performance tweaks and more

- Unofficial bookings can be made at your nearest BMW Motorrad dealership

BMW Motorrad India has teased the M 1000 XR on its social media handles. The teaser is a speed run of the prototype’s video shown in the international markets last month. Moreover, BMW India has already listed the M 1000 XR on its official website, hinting at an official launch sometime soon.

The BMW M 1000 XR will be based on the S 1000 XR but feature a host of upgrades to its bodywork and internals. The prototype has revealed a sharp and aggressive design, making the Bavarian ADV look notably sportier than the standard bike. With the M-treatment, the bike will weigh around 230kg and can get even lighter if equipped with the optional carbon-fibre wheels. The M 1000 XR is also expected to get a carbon-fibre nose, side panels, and appendages. Moreover, BMW will offer the Akrapovic exhaust with it.

The M 1000 XR will draw power from a 999cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor. It’ll dish out 200bhp and the bike will have a top speed of around 280kmph. It’ll also benefit from BMW’s ShiftCam technology. Then, the engine will be linked to a six-speed gearbox and get a bi-directional quickshifter. Apart from that, the M 1000 XR will feature rider aids like ride modes, traction control levels, ABS modes, engine brake control, slide control, wheelie control, cruise control, and more.

The motorcycle will receive adjustable USD front forks and a remote, adjustable rear shock. Meanwhile, the braking hardware will comprise dual front and a single rear disc with blue-coloured M callipers. Its wheels will be wrapped in Metzeler K3 Racetec RR tyres.

BMW is yet to reveal the launch date for the M 1000 XR for the Indian market. That said, unofficial bookings have commenced in select states with a token amount of Rs. 50,000. The S 1000 XR is currently priced at Rs. 22.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). We expect the M version to sit at a notably premium price than the standard model.
