- Likely to be updated for stricter emission norms
- Could retain the current engine setup
- BMW India only offers the R variant here
BMW Motorrad is set to update quite a few of its bikes for 2023. After the S 1000 RR and its streetfighter version, the 2023 BMW R 1250 R’s type approval documents have been leaked.
For 2023, the Bavarian bikemaker is set to revise the R 1250 range with a new catalytic converter setup. It’s likely to adhere to the stricter emissions norms for the second stage of Euro 5. The latter will introduce OBD 2 diagnostics with catalytic converter monitoring. This objective is to monitor the emission levels so it doesn’t slump over time.
BMW is likely to make bare minimum tweaks to the design for the R 1250 R and RS. The current bike features an LED headlight with muscular bodywork. Its fuel tank looks voluptuous and adds to the scoop-like silhouette of the seat. The bike is powered by a 1254cc air/liquid-cooled boxer twin motor with BMW’s shift cam technology. The engine dishes out 134bhp and 143NM in the current model’s setup.
The R 1250 R rides on USD front forks and a preload adjustable monoshock. Its braking hardware comprises twin 320mm front discs and a single 276mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The braking setup is mounted on 17-inch alloys wrapped in 120/70 front and 180/55 rear tyre. The list of rider aids includes a TFT screen, 2 riding modes, hill start control, and automatic stability control.
BMW Motorrad currently only offers the R 1250 R in India and is priced at Rs 16,25,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). Once the updated version is launched, you can also expect a slight price hike here.
