The 645km-long fifth stage of the 2023 Dakar Rally concluded in Ha’il with Monster Energy Honda Team’s Adrien Van Beveren taking the first spot. Beveren was closely followed by his teammate, Jose Ignacio Cornejo Florimo who finished the stage just 13 seconds behind to clench the second spot. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Toby Price completed the podium for this stage, finishing 3 minutes and 56 seconds behind the race leader.
Sherco Factory took the final two spots in the top 10 with Lorenzo Santolino and Rui Gonçalves finishing ninth and tenth, respectively. Hero Motosports Team Rally’s Sebastian Buhler finished 13th on the list. Buhler’s teammate, Franco Caimi completed the stage in the 24th spot.
Up next, Stage 6 of the rally, which was initially planned to be the longest stage of the race at 876km, has now been cut short due to heavy rains and flooding in the region. The stage has now been cut short by about 100km, and the competitors will camp the night at the bivouac in Riyadh instead of the earlier planned one at Al Duwadimi.
