- Chinese type-approval document leaked
- CFMoto and KMT working together on the 2023 model
- To be powered by a 799cc twin-cylinder motor
KTM has plans to launch several models over the coming months, and some of them might make it to the Indian market. The latest bike from the Austrian bikemaker that is expected to make its international debut is the 790 Adventure R. Its type-approval documents have been leaked and reveal that the firm is working with CFMoto, a Chinese two-wheeler maker, for its updated middleweight ADV.
CFMoto looks after KTM’s Chinese operations and uses KTM engines for its motorcycles. The newly surfaced documents reveal that the 2023 KTM 790 Adventure will be powered by a 799cc twin-cylinder motor, which is slightly smaller than the 890 ADV. Its output will be rated at 94bhp — about 9bhp less than that of the larger sibling. KTM is leveraging the low manufacturing cost from CFMoto, thereby reviving the 790 series.
The 790 Adventure resembles the 890 model and features a split LED headlight with a raised front fender below it. Even the large fuel tank as well as the remaining bodywork is the same for the 790. Unlike the standard bike, the R model features WP Apex Xplore suspension which is better suited for off-roading. Other bits like the knobby tyres have also been spotted on the 2023 KTM 790 Adventure R.
The 2023 KTM 790 Adventure R could be launched soon in the European and American markets. However, the same can’t be said about the Austrian brand’s intentions for India. But, KTM does have the 390 Adventure with spoke wheels on the cards for our market.
