KTM has unveiled the 2023 RC 8C limited-edition, track-only supersport motorcycle for the international market. The new iteration of this limited-edition model has been overhauled cosmetically and mechanically. For 2023, the KTM RC 8C received a fresh coat of paint, a tweak to the aero package, upgraded electronic features, more weight-saving solutions, and high-end components.
In terms of performance, the engine has been tweaked to make more power and the 2023 RC 8C makes 133bhp at 11,000rpm and 98Nm of peak torque at 8,250rpm. The power output increase by 6.9bhp has been achieved through modifications like the installation of new, lighter titanium valves and conrods, two piston rings, higher compression ratios, a bigger throttle body, and a bolstered fuel pump/pressure. Further, the company claims that the increase in the clutch preload, removal of the top balancer, and adjustment to the crankcase balancer shaft have delivered durability gains. An additional PANKL oil cooler is claimed to help with thermal stability too.
The weight-saving measures help the 2023 KTM RC 8C tip the weighing scale at just 142kg (dry weight). Then, components such as the brand-new titanium Akrapovic exhaust system have also helped with weight reduction.
Moreover, riders can customise the traction control, mapping, and engine braking. The motorcycle can further be primed in a number of ways including adjustment to the steering head, throttle response, and degree of bite from the Brembo Stylema calipers and RCS19 Corsa Corta master cylinder. The cockpit includes a revamped dashboard with a GPS data logger and KTM RC16 (MotoGP motorcycle) derived handlebar switches. The feature list also comprises the reverse pattern of the race Quickshifter+.
The Austrian manufacturer will create only 200 units of the 2023 RC 8C and each model will come with a special serial number stamped onto the triple clamp.
