The XMax range of scooters has proved to be highly lucrative for Yamaha, especially in Europe. Interestingly, the company has sold more than 4,50,000 units of these scooters in the continent so far. Now, to make the XMax models even more attractive, Yamaha has bestowed them with a couple of enticing updates for 2023 in Europe. And the 300cc iteration, in particular, has become way more desirable now.
The XMax 300 comes in standard and Tech Max variants and the latter has become more tech-savvy now. It’s equipped with a 4.2-inch colour TFT display which sits under a 3.2-inch LCD unit. The TFT comes with smartphone connectivity and shows message and email notifications once connected to the rider’s smartphone via the Yamaha MyRide application. It also allows one to view and control music functions. This TFT is also compatible with the Garmin StreetCross phone app which enables navigation on the screen. The base variant, meanwhile, just gets an LCD dash but that too gets Bluetooth connectivity.
Other add-ons the Tech Max trim gets include a new leather seat with gold stitching, aluminium footplates and mirrors. Yamaha has also tweaked the styling of the XMax 300 by making the bodywork sharper and more aggressive. The front end of the maxi-scooter now carries an X-theme for its headlight and apron design. Even the tail light glows in an X shape now. The hardware, meanwhile, has remained unchanged with a 27.6bhp, 292cc single-cylinder engine with a CVT transmission system. The suspension setup comprises telescopic forks up front and dual springs at the rear while a single disc at both ends handle braking duties.
As of now, Yamaha is unlikely to bring the XMax 300 to the Indian shores considering it would be too expensive a proposition for our price-sensitive market.
