- Sports a radical-looking front fascia
- Powered by a 500cc, parallel-twin engine
- Unlikely to be launched in India
Benelli had a bunch of interesting motorcycles to show at this year’s EICMA show in Milan, Italy. Some of these motorcycles grabbed a lot of eyeballs due to their radical design and one of them was the Tornado Naked Twin 500.
It seems most designers are allowing their creative juices to flow unrestrained these days while creating the front fascia of motorcycles. While we were still coming to terms with the alien-like headlamp design of the new KTM 990 Duke, the Tornado Naked Twin 500 showed up at EICMA with an equally flamboyant fascia. The headlamp comprises a pair of vertically stacked projector LEDs flanked by boomerang-shaped DRLs with no plastic cowl surrounding the assembly. From the fuel tank to the tail, the motorcycle boasts a more traditional street bike stance with sharp and muscular contours.
Powering the Tornado Naked Twin is a 500cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 47.6bhp and 46Nm of torque. To give you a perspective, the new KTM 390 Duke churns out 45.3bhp and 39Nm. As for the hardware, the motorcycle is based on a steel trellis frame and rides on a pair of 17-inch alloy wheels. Suspension duties are handled by USD forks and a monoshock while braking is taken care of by twin discs up front and a single disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS. Furthermore, the feature list comprises a 14-litre fuel tank, a five-inch TFT screen, Bluetooth connectivity, and full-LED lighting.
The 2024 Benelli Tornado Naked Twin 500 is expected to go on sale in the international markets in the first half of 2024 while its India entry is uncertain as of now.
