- Powered by a 1,300cc boxer-twin motor
- Likely to feature completely new frame
- Equipped with BMW’s Telelever and Paralever system
The upcoming BMW R 1300 GS has been spotted testing again and its latest spy shots reveal new details. The upcoming Bavarian ADV could debut later this year, and here’s what we know about it.
Like the current models, the 2024 BMW R 1300 GS will sport brawny bodywork. The test bike looks large and is equipped with a butch front housing the LED headlight, a radar system, a beak with auxiliary lights below, and a small visor above. The recently leaked technical details indicate that BMW will use a 1,300cc boxer-twin motor in the new R 1300 GS. It’s expected to benefit from the shift-cam technology and churn about 143bhp and 143Nm. However, the tune could be altered and the maximum torque could arrive earlier than that on the 1250 GS’ motor.
BMW could also offer two options for the exhaust system – a single canister and a twin can setup. As seen in the spy shots, the test bikes are equipped with an Akrapovic exhaust system, which is likely to be an optional accessory.
Even the current tubular trellis frame that we see on the R 1250 GS will make way for a new unit on the R 1300 GS. The details about the chassis are scarce but BMW could use a new steel unit as well. Meanwhile, the Telelever at the front and the Paralever at the rear are to be retained. However, the springs could be tuned differently with respect to the weight of the new bike. Even the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels will remain the same.
The feature list on the new BMW R 1300 GS would comprise LED illumination, radar-based cruise control, collision warning, blind spot monitoring, and a fully digital console with GPS. The rider aids are expected to include ride modes, traction control, ABS, and more.
BMW seems to be inching closer to the production of the bike and might make an official announcement by the end of this year.
