- Honda CBR 250 RR gets a new SP version
- CBR 250 RR-R to get a four-cylinder motor
- Unlikely to be launched in India anytime soon
Honda Motorcycles is set to make notable updates to its Indonesian portfolio as the brand has recently unveiled the 2023 CBR 250 RR and is likely to bring the 2024 CBR 250 RR-R too. While the 250 RR has been around for a while, it now gets an SP version. On the other hand, the 250 RR-R could get an inline four-cylinder motor.
For 2023, the Honda CBR 250 RR has been welcomed with the SP trim. It’s draped in the Japanese brand’s SP colours which includes red, blue, and white. The 2023 Honda CBR 250 RR is powered by a 250cc liquid-cooled in-line motor that makes 42bhp. The 2023 SP version makes 3bhp more than before. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox and gets a quickshifter too.
On the other hand, some newly leaked documents have revealed that the 2024 Honda CBR 250 RR-R will get an inline four-cylinder motor that makes 55bhp and a six-speed gearbox with a quickshifter. It will also feature a full TFT screen, USD front forks, a single disc at each end and 17-inch alloys.
Neither of the models will be offered in our country as Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has no plans for it. This could be a result of the price sensitivity in our market as both the CBR 250RR and the CBR 250 RR-R get eye-watering asking prices. For reference, the 250 RR SP retails at EUR 6,000 (approximately Rs. 5.44 lakh sans taxes) and the CBR 250 triple R demands an even higher asking price.
However, if you are looking for 300-400cc twin-cylinder bikes in India, you have the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Ninja 400. But if you can wait till the end of this year, then Aprilia and Yamaha could also be potent options as the RS 440 and YZF-R3 could be launched soon. Take a look at the RS 440 test bike which was recently spotted.
