KTM has unveiled the newest 990cc member of its Duke family at the 2023 EICMA show in Milan. The motorcycle is essentially the successor to the 890 Duke and boasts a host of visual and performance updates. Although it’s unlikely to come to India anytime soon, we have compiled the pictures of the motorcycle for you to drool over.
Staying true to its ethos, KTM has designed the 990 Duke quite radically, more so than the 890. The biggest talking point is its headlamp which has slim and protruding panels flanking an LED projector lamp that is pushed inward.
The bulbous fuel tank section resembles the bigger 1290 Super Duke but gets slightly different two-piece extensions that extend up to the front forks. And just like the new 390 Duke, the aluminium sub-frame is left exposed which lends it an industrial look.
All the information about rides and motorcycle are shown on a new five-inch TFT dash sporting fresh graphics and more intuitive software for easier navigation through menus.
The 990 Duke also gets an inertial measurement unit to facilitate the bike with lean-sensitive traction control and ABS. KTM has also equipped the bike with five configurable riding modes for different riding conditions.
Powering the bike is the revised iteration of the KTM’s LC8c, 947cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that makes more power and torque than before, standing at close to 123bhp and 103Nm.
Underpinned by a new tubular frame and swingarm, the suspension setup of the 990 Duke is fully adjustable at both ends with WP Apex USD forks and a monoshock.
The new KTM 990 Duke will be offered in two colour options – Electronic Orange and Black Metallic. While it will be launched in the international markets soon, the India launch is unlikely to take place anytime soon.
