Norton reveals Atlas Nomad and Ranger in the UK

- Nomad is a café racer-like variant and Ranger is a pure scrambler

- Initially, both the bikes will be limited to 250 units each in the UK

- India entry is expected by late-2019

After several images and teaser videos, Norton has finally revealed two of its 650cc motorcycles in the UK. To be called as Atlas, the bike has been introduced in two variants; Nomad and Ranger. While the former is a café-racer styled bike, the latter gets components of a hard core scrambler.

The Atlas Nomad and Ranger are primarily the same in terms of design and cycle parts except for minor distinctions. While the Nomad rides on an 18-inch wheel on the front, the Ranger, being a purer scrambler, rides on a 19-inch front wheel. Rear tyres measures 17-inch on both the variants. To add to its adventure credentials, the Ranger gets high-set front fender, wider handlebar, small fly screen and bash plate.

The Norton Altas Nomad and Ranger are both powered by a 650cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that churns out 85bhp of power and 47Nm of torque. Both bikes get 15-litre of fuel tank with a dry weight of 178kg. Norton has also incorporated ABS and two-mode switchable traction control as safety features.

Based on twin tube steel trellis frame, the Atlas is suspended on 50mm upside-down forks on the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is taken care of by a pair of 320mm Brembo discs with four-piston calipers on the front and a single 245mm disc with Brembo twin-piston caliper at the rear.

The motorcycles will go on sale in the UK on 17 November and only 250 units of each variant will be available in the first lot. The deliveries will commence by May 2019 in the country. As for the India entry, we can expect the bikes to be launched here by late-2019.
