- Looks ready for production
- Could be powered by a boxer-twin engine
- Will go up against touring models from Harley-Davidson and Indian
BMW was spotted testing what could be its upcoming touring motorcycle. The bike looks ready for production and is expected to be revealed soon.
As can be seen in the images, the motorcycle boasts of a bagger styling featuring a large fairing on the front accompanied by a tall windscreen. The instrument cluster is a four-pod unit which could either be a semi-digital or a fully analogue set up. At the rear, it sports a top box mounted on a luggage rack along with side panniers which boast of a sweeping design, similar to the BMW K 1600 B. Moreover, it also gets chrome-finished mirrors, exhaust and brake lever to lend it a retro appeal.
Talking about the engine, the touring bike is expected to be powered by an air-cooled, twin-cylinder, boxer mill; considering the protruding cylinder head. While the displacement of this powerplant is still unknown, it is likely to be a 1,800cc powerplant. In terms of electronics, the motorcycle might feature a multimedia system with smartphone-connectivity, similar to the modern-day touring bikes. Furthermore, expect it to come with an electronically adjustable windscreen, traction control, heated grips and heated seat.
Considering its styling and purpose, this BMW bike might lock horns with the touring range of Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycles.
