- The final alliance draft will be signed soon
- Will co-develop and sell middle-weight motorcycles
- Expect a concept model at 2019 EICMA
Bajaj and Triumph Motorcycles will officially seal their deal in the next two months. This development was confirmed by one of the top honchos at Bajaj.
Both the companies had announced its alliance in August 2017. This alliance talked about developing and manufacturing a new range of middle-weight motorcycles. Executive director Rakesh Sharma said that the final conclusion of this alliance will reach in the next month or two.
As part of this deal, the British brand will develop these new motorcycles whereas Bajaj will manufacturer it in India. These bikes will be sold in India, as well as exported to international markets.
According to one of our sources, the development of this new motorcycle platform began much before the alliance was officially announced. In fact, the British engineers are quite excited about working on this project as they have never worked on a mass market motorcycle before.
We are expecting a concept model to be shown at the upcoming 2019 EICMA Show in Italy. The production model could hit the market in late 2020, followed by an official launch in India in early 2021.
