- Next generation Super Duke R caught on camera
- Gets host of mechanical, cosmetic updates
- Likely to be unveiled at 2020 EICMA Show
KTM is in the process of updating its flagship naked motorcycle, the 1290 Super Duke R. The prototype of this KTM was recently spotted testing in Europe.
For the 2020 model, the Austrian maker is looking to give some major update to the 1290 Super Duke R. The updates are aesthetic as well as mechanical. The major changes that can be seen here is the sub-frame which is no longer trellis in nature. It now gets a cast-alloy sub-frame. The exhaust system is new which has been done to improve the lean angle and cornering clearance. The swingarm is new which is connected to the rear shock via a link instead of directly connected as on the current model.
The styling of the Super Duke R will receive massive overhaul. The overall design language has gone more aggressive and mean. The radiator shroud fairing is sleeker and sharper and the fuel tank has broader shoulder lines. The instrument cluster too, is new, and could sport the touch-screen feature.
We are expecting KTM to unveil the 2020 Super Duke R at this year’s EICMA show in Milan. Unfortunately, this bike won’t come to India anytime soon. But its smaller sibling, the 790 Duke will be launched in India this year as a completely-knocked-down (CKD) unit.
