CF Moto 650NK vs Royal Enfield Interceptor 650: Spec Comparison

CF Moto is scheduled to launch the 650NK in India on 19 July. The bike’s rival in terms of body style is the Kawasaki Z650 but it also has another unusual competitor in the country; the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. We compare the bikes to find out what each one has to offer.

Design

The CF Moto 650NK is a modern-looking motorcycle. The streetfighter gets aggressively-styled bodywork with sharp lines and creases all over. The tail section is upswept and features a split-seat setup which adds to the 650NK’s sporty appeal. And in terms of seating ergonomics, the bike offers a mildly bend-forward riding position.

On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is a proper classic-inspired motorcycle. It gets a long tank, round headlamp, round mirrors, a flat single-piece seat and oodles of chrome that complete its old-school charm.

Features

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is very basic when it comes to features. The bike offers a dual-channel ABS and a semi-digital instrument cluster. Meanwhile, the CF Moto 650NK offers a good number of features like full-LED lighting for the headlamp, tail lamp and turn-signals. It also gets an LCD display which displays speed, fuel gauge, trip meter, odometer and gear change indicator. And just like the Royal Enfield, it offers a dual-channel ABS.

Engine

The 650NK is powered by a 649.3cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor which churns out 60.3bhp of power at 9,000rpm and 56Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. Meanwhile, the Interceptor 650 uses a 648cc, parallel-twin, oil-cooled engine. It produces 47bhp at 7250rpm and 52Nm of torque. Both engines come mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Cycle Parts and Dimensions

The 650NK rides on 17-inch wheels which are suspended by KYB telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile, braking is handled by twin petals discs for the front and a single petal disc at the rear held on by J Juan callipers and dual-channel ABS.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor uses single disc brakes at both ends; a 320mm disc at the front, and a 240mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS. Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It rides on 18-inch spoke wheels on both ends. As for fuel-tank capacity, the CF Moto 650NK gets a 17-litre unit and a kerb weight of 206kg. Meanwhile, the Interceptor sports a 13.7-litre fuel tank while its kerb weight stands at 202kg.

Pricing

Royal Enfield has pegged the Interceptor 650 at Rs 2.50 lakhs. And while we expect CF Moto to price the 650NK competitively, it is highly unlikely to be priced anywhere close to the Royal Enfield. Instead, it will possibly carry a price tag of around Rs 4.3 lakhs to Rs 4.6 lakhs. (both prices ex-showroom).
