Indian Motorcycle is expected to add a new touring motorcycle to its portfolio in the coming days as the motorcycle was spied a few months back. At the end of July 2019, we had also reported that this bike will be called the Challenger which was confirmed by the manufacturer at a dealer’s meet. After a few weeks now, we have got our hands on a picture which reveals the final production model of the Challenger.
The American bikemaker recently unveiled two special edition models, the Scout Bobber Twenty and the Scout Anniversary. On its Canadian website, the company gave the first look of the Challenger in one of the pictures which showed the accessories for the Bobber Twenty. Only the front end of the bike is visible in the picture. It displays the large batwing fairing housing a rectangular headlamp assembly along with a pulled-back handlebar, same as we had witnessed in the spy shots. It also gives a peek at the large 19-inch alloy wheels which are suspended on upside down forks.
With a long wheelbase and low-slung profile, the motorcycle also sports a single-piece seat along with large stretched-out panniers with a smooth flowing design. It will also get a blacked-out treatment on the long exhaust canisters and engine bay. Talking about the engine, the motorcycle will be powered by a 1770cc, liquid-cooled, 60-degree V-twin motor which produces 120bhp of power.
Indian Motorcycles is likely to unveil the Challenger touring model at this year’s EICMA show as a 2020 model. The motorcycle will lock horns with Harley-Davidson’s full-size touring bike, the Road Glide Special.
