- Most powerful motor ever produced by Indian

- Will do duty on the upcoming Challenger model

Indian Motorcycle is preparing to launch a new touring motorcycle which goes by the name Challenger. While it is expected to be officially unveiled soon, the American bikemaker has already released the details about its engine, christened as the ‘PowerPlus’.

The powerplant has been named after an Indian model which was manufactured from 1916 to 1924. And as the name suggests, this mill is powerful. So much that the bike maker is touting it as the most potent motor it has ever produced. With a displacement of 1,769cc, this 60-degree, liquid-cooled, V-twin engine belts out 121.8bhp of power at 5,500rpm and as much as 173.5Nm of torque at 3,800rpm. It will come mated to a six-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. Furthermore, the company has also revealed that the engine will be tuned to belt out that monstrous power in three modes – Standard, Rain and Sport.

As for the styling of the Challenger, we had caught a glimpse of its front section as well, thanks the spy shots and leaked brochure surfaced earlier this year. The Challenger will feature large batwing fairing up front housing LED headlamps flanked by radical-looking LED DRLs. The pictures had also revealed that it will be riding on 19-inch alloy wheels up front suspended by upside down forks.

The remaining details about the Challenger will be uncovered at its official unveiling which will take place soon. Looking at the huge line-up that the bike maker has in India, the motorcycle will also come to our shores after its international launch.
